FUTURE REINFORCEMENTS

FILLING THEM UP - TWENTY-TWO MORE RECRUITS
... A medical examination of volunteers for service with the Dominion reinforcements was held last night at the Drill Hall. Forty men appeared and of this number 22 were accepted, 18 deferred, and two rejected.

The names, occupation and addresses of those accepted are:-

- served as Private 11420 with the NZEF, 12th Reinforcements Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company, embarking from Wellington 1 May 1916. His next of kin was his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Ann Cunningham, Woodward Road, Mount Albert, Auckland
- son of Elizabeth Ann Cunningham who married George Little in 1902 & lived at Mount Albert, Auckland


Francis Alfred CARTER, driver, Surrey Street, Grey Lynn
- born in Australia, Francis served as Private 11407 with the NZEF, 12th Reinforcements Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company. His next of kin was his mother, Frances Carter, 47 Cambria Street, Hawera.


David William CASTLE, bushman, Vincent Street
- served as Private 12/4151 with the NZEF, 11th Reinforcements Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company, embarking from Wellington 1 April 1916. His next of kin was his wife, Mrs A. J. Castle, 96 Franklin Road, Auckland. He married Ann Jane BRADY in 1893

Lampard, William Henry, second son of John George Glibbery, Old Ford, London, to Louisa Jane (1869-1950), eldest daughter of the late James Henry Purcell (late of East India Company), Auckland, New Zealand. - William was an Auckland Harbour Board Personnel 1914-1933. He died 23 November 1935 aged 62

James Alexander LESLIE, student, Lynton Avenue, Onehunga
- served as Private 14444 with the NZEF, 14th Reinforcements Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company, embarking from Wellington 26 June 1916. His next of kin was his father David Kirkwood Anderson Leslie, Lynton Avenue, Onehunga, Auckland. James DIED OF DISEASE 16 November 1916 in France, aged 18. He is buried III. I. 14. at Estaires Communal Cemetery, Nord, France. His brother, Roy John Leslie, Corporal 2/577, died of disease on board the NZHS Maheno, Papeete, Tahiti, en route to New Zealand 5 Sep 1917
