Amos Orlando Cravener my great grandfather Amos was born 17 december 1868 and died at age 46. In 1916 Amos had several occupations. He worked as a bookkeeper, ran a general store in Illonios. After receiving his calling he became a minister. Amos began the Moody Bible inst. He preached on Sundays for coal miners and their families. The Church was non-denominational in western Penn. and Cleveland, Ohio.

Amos had a healthy sense of humor.

A man tryed to sell Amos insurance, you have 4 children, what if you were to die? You have a house and could not pay for it any longer. I have a policy that will give your family 20 dollars each month. What would your wife do?

I do not have more than grocery money, resonded Amos.

What if I pay the first month, would that help?

Amos agreed and died before the month was over.

Jenny, Amos wife lived on that. The children were Constance 1893, Edward Kimmel 1892, George 1901/02 and Margeret 1910/11.

It is said that Amos Cravener died running for a train. It has been mentioned that died being hit by the train. We will never know.
