ABORIGINAL marriages 1864-1887 Victoria Australia.

Aboriginal marriages located in the Victorian Marriage Index.

The male and female Australian Aboriginies were simply recorded as OBORIGINAL in the early records. When we hear now long some of these names can be it's easy to understand why. I expect these few marriages must have been performed by a white fella, hence the registration.

ABORIGINAL (males)

Phillip - married Rebecca ABORIGINAL 1864.

Timothy - married Topsy ABORIGINAL 1867.

David - married Elizabeth ABORIGINAL 1867.

Mark - married Lizzie NGURIVANIN 1867.

Leonard - married Bella ABORIGINAL 1875.

George - married Annabella VINCENT 1877.

Thomas Spider - married Bella Lee ABORIGINAL 1882.

Andrew Charles - married Catherine ABORIGINAL 1887.

I have been tempted to obtain a few of these marriage certificates just to find out what other details may be recorded. It would be a costly exercise, but it would answer a few questions.
