Hi there,
Abraham's father was Samuel Barrell. Here is Samuel's obituary.

The death occurred'at Mangatainoka on January 5 of a very old colonist in the person of Mr Samuel Barrell, at the advanced age of 85 years. The deceased gentlemen, who was very highly respected all who knew him, was one of the Canterbury pilgrims, having arrived in Lyttelton over fifty-six years ago in the Grassmere, the first emigrant ship. For the past eleven or twelve years the late Mr Barrell, whose wife predeceased him six years ago, had been living with his son, Mr A. Barrell, of Mangatainoka.

This could be the voyage? But no shipping list!

.. the ship Grassmere, from Liverpool to New Zealand, with emigrants, 32 days out, all well.

There are five Barrel burials recorded at Mangatainoka cemetery, Pahiatua.
Samuel and Susan have the following inscription on their headstone: 'Canterbury pilgrims arrived Lyttleton 1855 aboard the "Grasmere"
