My Grandfather Albert Smith was born on 4 February 1890 in Nottingham. Numerous searchs to find his parents ended in a deadend, until Janilye solved my query. A big thank you goes out to her.

Since the original birth, marriage and death registers are not open to the public, getting access to the information on one of these certificates is done by first searching the national birth, marriage and death indexes that have been created by the GRO for this purpose. The indexes for the three events are divided into volumes by year following which entries are listed alphabetically. Once an entry in one of the indexes is found, you are then able to use that information to order a copy of a death, marriage or birth certificate from the GRO.
Below is your marriage information ;
Name: Albert Smith
Spouse Surname: Makings
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1924
Registration district: Nottingham
Inferred County: Nottinghamshire
Volume Number: 7b
Page Number: 1002

There were 29 Albert Smith's registered in that period and another 31 born with a second forename. The above is the only one registered in Nottingham without a second forename.

I looked at another view. The Bartock's were boarders. Still can't figure out what sort of labourer Albert Snr was. you might be able to make it out. I can send you a copy of the page if you want. It may respond to 'zoom'
