Am trying to trace the family of my great great grandfather, John McKay who came from Kildare some time in the early 1850's. By 1855 he was prospecting on the Kings Plains Goldfields in NSW. Any hints of finding his parents in Ireland would be great.

Question by desumc

He had experience with animals so had probably lived on a farm. There was a John McKay who emigrated in 1852 on the George Seymour as a free settler. This may have been him.
