My father was Ivan Rex CLIMO who met my mother Hazel Alice WENSOR nee CAVANAGH in a little rural town called Pongoroa, which is situated "out back" from Paihatua, North Island. From what my mother told me he was the acting Rural Postal Service at the time.

They were both married to other people when they met. In those days (back in the late 1950's) there was still some amount of social stigma attached to being a single mother with children. Hazel had children from her marriage to Richard WENSOR as well as children from a common marriage to Raymond Ebbett (BDM has as Eblett). LONDON.

Needless to say that neither divorce was finalized when i was conceived and born at Paihatua Maternity Annexe nine months later in December of 1961. It is said that i was in somewhat of a hurry to see the world and was almost born in the back of the hearse that Ivan used to deliver mail. I was registered under the surname WENSOR.

Sadly, in 1964 Hazel fell pregnant with another child (also the son of Ivan Rex CLIMO) whom was still born on June 12 1964. She named the infant Paul before birth so this is what i shall refer to him as. Paul is buried in the Pongoroa Cemetary, Row 6. Plot 15. Some how Paul ended up being registered under the surname LONDON and his plot is marked accordingly.Ivan Rex CLIMO buried the infant with Reverend Clegg as witness.

My parents married at the Register of Births, Deaths and marriages, Pongoroa, on the 10 March 1965.

Hazel CAVANAGH was Born in Hamilton on the 10 August 1924. Her Parents were Lillian Winifred CAVANAGH nee PRUDEN and William John Campbell CAVANAGH. Hazel passed away suddenly at Kerikeri on the 17th of January 2003. Her ashes are interred with her still born son Paul.

For those interested in the LONDON side of things, Raymond Ebbett (BDM has Eblett) LONDON he died on the 24th of February 1957 aged 39 and is buried in Grave 34, Plot 6, Main section of Mangatainoka Cemetary.

Known names of other children are John, Peter WENSOR, Ken CLIMO, Valray Doreen CLIMO, Ruth WALKER (nee WENSOR), Janice (married name GRAHAM) Her Death Certificate shows 4 living males and 4 living females at time of Death.

Hi Aunty Ann,

You are doing a great job of searching for the history of our wide and wonderful family to complete a family tree :)

Love Erica

Thank you I am trying my best. Please keep a watch on here also as I'm trying to blog things as well. Regarding hazels relationship with Ray (Ramond) Ebbot/Ebbit LONDON. I'm not sure how/when they met or just what was involved other thean the children at the end of it. Hazel did tell me some fairly gruesome things that i cant really put on here because I can not find proof. Apparently he is buried in an unmarked paupers grave in the Mangatanoka Cemetary but look as i might i can find no trace of him. No mention of the deed that caused his death in historical newspapers - nothing. So yet another mystery to unravel

Hi again,
What a god send this site is turning out to be. I had looked and could not find Raymond. Now I can amend my dairy to the correct spelling and include burial details. I
know that Hazel and him had a somewhat turmoil filled relationship during which he had affairs and "brought the kids home" to Hazel. I will private message you what i believe to be the details as they are quite gossipy and i prefer factual information over gossip =). Or rather now my mother has passed they could be termed as second hand information :).

Just for any relatives looking at this I am slowly piecing the children of Hazel into order. Not an easy task with many of my half-siblings being noted as "father unknown". I shall keep at this until my last breath if I have to. Too many secrets and hurt feelings within our "web".

Hello Ann,
Apart from sending you a private message, I'd just like to say I've found your observations about Raymond London, (my half Uncle) most interesting. About 24 years ago (after my father died - Raymond's half-brother) I had ocassion to review some of my findings about his (Raymond's) life. His death as you'll probably have researched is a very sad one, and is the reason you have had trouble "tracing" his last days. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully you'll receive my private message as I'd like to explore and share with you in more detail our common research notes on this relationship.

With kind regards and sucessfull hunting

Paul London
