19 Dec 1921 The death took place recently of Mr F. J. Ritson, an old Wellingtonian, who served his apprenticeship with Messrs Cabe and Son. After his apprenticeship was completed Mr Ritson went Home to improve himself, and was for some tme with the Atlantic Transport Service. On Returning to New Zealand Mr Ritson joined the service of the Union Steam Ship Company, and was in the steamer 'Hawera' when she broke her shaft. He was one of those who left in the ship's boat to obtain assistance and was picked up off Lord Howe Island. He was the eldest son of the late Mr George Albert Ritson, who was for 27 years engineer of the Wellington Harbour Board dredge

4 March 1918 Mr Thomas O. A. Ritson, a son of Mrs E. Ritson, formerly of Cambridge-terrace, died on Saturday, at the age of 63 years. The late Mr Ritson came to Wellington with his parents when only two years old and had resided here ever since. He was well known to travellers in the early coaching days. His remains were privately interred in the Karori Cemetery this morning
