George Bicknell died 28 April 1905, at 14 or 19 Elgin Street, Hawthorn. Cause of death is chronic interstitial nephritis and cardiac failure, duration 3 months. Queenie Victoria May Bicknell is informant (not yet using Mabel as her first name). George was born in Kingston-on-Thames, had been 34 years in Victoria, was 27 years old when he married Annie Taylor.
I have George Bicknell's death certificate 65110/1905.

My husband is George Bicknell's great-grandson (Arthur Frances Bicknell had one child: Sylvia Frances Bicknell married Henry Dudley Appleton. They had five children: June married Reg(2chn, 4gr.chn); Valda married Douglas(5chn, 12gr.chn); Douglas married Janice(4chn, 8gr.chn); Dianne stillborn; Donald married Kathleen(4chn, 1gr.chd)

His birthplace Surrey, his occupation laborer, residence Geelong; his parents Henry BICKNELL and Elizabeth BULLERFIELD or BUTTERFIELD, (not able to read occupation). Annie's birthplace Manchester, occupation domestic, residence Geelong; her parents John TAYLOR, Elizabeth (unknown) John Taylor was a farmer. Both George and Annie signed their marriage certificate. Witnesses were Thomas Moore Birdsey, Edward Taylor

His occupation is bootmaker, living at 95 Somerset Street Richmond; his parents are Claude Robert APPLETON (dec) and Hannah WARNECKE. Sylvia's occupation is sasleswoman, living at 292 Riversdale Road, Auburn; her parents are Arthur Francis Bicknell (tram conductor) and Violet Ruby Prudence (WOOD). Witnesses are A F Bicknell and Alfred Appleton.
***the number on this certificate is 1349. But I think that would be the number the church registry allocated, not one from Vic BDM
***Dudley Henry was always called Dudley, never Henry.
***Claude Robert is actually his brother. His father's name is Claude William Webster APPLETON

Henry Dudley APPLETON died at Frankston. He was cremated and his ashes are at Rye Cemetery. I do not have his death certificate.

2 June 2001
Sylvia Frances Bicknell APPLETON died at Rosebud. I do not have her death certificate. She was cremated and her ashes are at Rye cemetery.

SUDDEN DEATHS.- Two cases of sudden death have been reported to the coroner during this week, but it is improbable that in either case an inquest will be deemed necessary. The first was on Monday, when Mrs Elizabeth Bicknell, an octogenarian, passed away before a doctor could be fetched.

BICKNELL.- The Friends of the late Mr GEORGE BICKNELL (late of M> T. and G. Company) are most respectfully invited to follow his remains to their last resting place in the Melbourne General Cemetery. The funeral cortege is appointed to leave his residence, no. 37 Elgin Street, Hawthorn, on Sunday -- April at half past 2 o'clock

WILSON (Bicknell) on the 21st June, at her son's residence, 292 Riversdale road, Auburn, Annie, the beloved wife of the late Richard Stone Wilson, and loving mother of Emily (deceased), Georgina (deceased), Violet (deceased), Mark (deceased), Queenie (Mrs Foy, deceased), Frederick, John (deceased), Arthur, Daisy (deceased), Albert(deceased), George (deceased), aged 81 years. Nearer, my God, to Thee.

WILSON.- Friends of the late Mr RICHARD STONE WILSON are respectfully informed that his remains will be interred in the Melbourne General Cemetery. The funeral will leave his residence 44 Baker Street North Richmond THIS (Saturday) AFTERNOON, 7th December at 3.30pm.
