born Martha Lydia LOVEDAY Hobart, Tasmania 1878

Journal by Holly123

Hello fellow detectives,

This is my paternal grandmother who I didn't meet. I believe she left this particular marriage, and I have tried to trace what her next moves were. My father had little information and she was not spoken of very much.
At the time of her marriage to my GF she was living in Sydney. I believe she may have travelled overseas, as there appears to be no death records here in Australia and I have some indication in records that she may have gone to UK, remarried, and then Canada. But it is all a bit shaky name wise and I will get to it eventually, but I'm just putting the call out to other LOVEDAY descendants in particular, who may know something. It appears that some siblings may have gone to Vic from Tasmania and lived out their lives there. Any information about any relatives would be great.
Martha was the daughter of Thomas Loveday & Mary Ann Ware.

Thank you

I was looking at the family line of your Thomas LOVEDAY and Mary Ann WARE last year and found they had eight children and I expect you will have all their names and birth dates. Of their eight children I could only find the death of their son James below.

Name: James Frederick LOVEDAY.
Born: 08 April 1880 Tasmania.
Died: 1936 Caulfield, Victoria.
Age: 57 years.
Father: Thomas LOVEDAY.
Mother: Mary Ann WARE.

There was also a Robert LOVEDAY died 1948 in Fitzroy, Victoria, aged 56 years, but the informant could not name his parents. Going by his age at death he was born circa 1891/1892.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Thank you

Noggin! Haven't heard that term for a while...
Yes this is she and yes have tried doing that. The info you have here about her first marriage is from the newspaper, where some spellings have perhaps been incorrectly transcribed, and I think from other records her first marriage was to Alfred Borge, not Boye.
Thank you for your input.
