Brundrett Surname

Journal by ErictheViking

I am researching my family surname Brundrett, mostly in the County of Cheshire, England. My research has found

that I am a direct decendant of Jefferie Brundrett b 1540 Stockport Cheshire,England.I am in the process of

recording all his decendants with the Brundrett surname. So if anybody requires information regarding this I

will be Happy to search the records I have.

E.G. My 5xG Grandfather Jeremiah Brundrett b1735 in Bowdon Cheshire was a Yeoman Farmer, renting land from the

Earl of Stamford at Dunham Massey. The Tythe Records show the land rented, the number and names of the fields

worked and the amount paid in Tythes.Jeremiah Married twice, had 10 Children and lived untill he was 84,not bad

for those days.I have acopy of his Will.He seems to have been quite considerate in leaving something to all

his Children. To his Son Jeremiah he left his bed he usually sleeps on with suitable bed clothes, linen and

bedding thereto.Beds were prized possessions at that time.

My records as yet are incomplete,so if there is anyone with information no matter how small concerning the

name Brundrett,plesse get in touch.

I would be most grateful for some assistance as I can't trace with any certainty the parents of one John Brundrett B 1791 in Bowdon. I think it must be a Jeremiah, but there is more than one entry giving 2 different sets of parents. I think John married an Elizabeth Mills they had 8 children.

My own involvement with the Brundrett name came as surprise. When my father passed and I found his birth cert and discovered he was born Brundrett which is not my surname, so I may be able to provide another branch to your tree if you are not already aware

Hi Fairhaven.

Thank you for your comments. Your Father Sounds very interesting. Who was he? I would be interested to know where he fits into the Brundrett Family tree.

The John Brundrett b 1791,Husband to Elizabeth Mills,I do have a record of and also most of his decendants. My records show his Father was Joseph Brundrett b c1769 in Cheshire, wife Ann Jones b c1769, his Father was John Brundrett b 1738 in Bowdon,Wife Sarah Strettals b1743. His Brother Jeremiah b 1735 is my 5x G Grandfather. so we have a common ancestor in their Father Thomas Brundrett b 1712 in Bowdon and his Wife Sarah Goodyear b1715.From Thomas I have managed to trace a direct line back to Jefferie Brundrett b1540. let me know if you are interested and I will provide the links to Jefferie

Thanks so much for the information, I would be grateful for the line back to Jefferie.

My great grandfather, John Briscoe Brundrett b 1880 in Altrincham married Amelia Doddemeade b 1877 and they had 2 daughters one of which was my grandmother Edith Brundrett b1901 in Altrincham. My father William b1923 in Moss Side, Manchester was illegitimate with no father shown on his birth cert, which I only discovered after he had passed away. My grandfather was married at the time and was subsequently divorced. Unfortunately Edith seems to have given up my father as he was brought up by my grandfathers family until he married and declared his own and fathers name as William Gregson on the marriage certificate. Edith went on to marry an Edwin Wild when she was 25 and he was 57 and they moved to Blackpool. So there it is, I could and maybe should have been a Brundrett and ended up a Gregson.

Hi Eric

Thank you so much for the information, I'm sure you'll have no problems researching the line back from John Briscoe Brundrett. I joined Genes Reunited about 3 years ago but had to put my research on hold until fairly recently. I will try to pick up from where I left off and look forward to viewing the Brundrett tree. Thanks again

Hi Fairhaven, I have your John B Brundrett son of Jeremiah Brundrett (b 1851) This jeremiah was the son of Mary Brundrett, who in turn, was the dau of Jeremiah Brundrett and Sarah Hulme.
This Jeremiah was the grandson of Thomas and Sarah.
