When (years approx) and where was Simon born ?

Hello wizard, Simon was baptised in 1792 at Ewelme, Oxfordshire son of Benjamin and Anne. He married Mary Ann Pauling at Crowmarsh Gifford in 1814, then at least 4 children were baptised at Wantage 1816-1827.I can't find any mention of Simon after 1826. One of those 4 children is JAMES GOODEY baptised 1823. Here's the tricky bit. James is my g/g/grandad but on James marriage certificate he lists his father as JOHN GOODEY. That is my brick wall, I need to find out why JOHN is listed as the father and not SIMON. Jabez
