- born in Invercargill, George was a Dentist in Nelson prior to becoming the Demonstrator in the Dental Graduate School of the Univeristy of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. He graduated from there in 1909 with the D.D.S. after 3 years and was the first New Zealand to hold the position on the Faculty of the University of Pennsylvania

1886 - 1916 Arthur Reginald Deschler
- Arthur served in WWI as Corporal 41126 with the New Zealand Training Unit. HIs next of kin was his mother, Eliza Annie Deschler (now Mrs Rein), of 29 Gala St., Invercargill and the late Carl Julius Deschler. Arthur died of pneumonia 19 Dec 1916 and buried Plot 97, Block 4 at Eastern Cemetery Invercargill

The Proprietor begs to announce to his Commercial and Country Friends that he has resumed possession of his well-known FAMILY HOTEL, which will be conducted on the lines followed by him when he previously catered for the public. Commodious Sample Rooms included in recent extensive additions. Note the address - C. J. DESCHLER, Commercial and Family Hotel, Esk street, Invercargill

... Charles J. Deschler, well-known to the travelling public throughout the colony as the proprietor of one of the leading hotels, died suddenly yesterday, aged forty-four, from heart troubles and congestion of the liver which he had been suffering from for some time previously. Mr Deschler was widely known throught Southland and wherever known he was highly respected
