I'll have through immigration look for you. His wife was Margaret Irvine 1838-1886 she died at Jerilderie. They'd been married in Victoria in 1866 so maybe after her death he went back there.

Try looking for his parent's William and Helen's immigration. Perhaps he arrived with them. I certainly cannot find an arrival for Charles Edward.
