Coombes family

Journal by colleencox

I am looking for any Coombes family members.
My G G G Grandfather came from the uk (Kent), His name was John Coombes b.1820, he married a Catherine Maher from Ireland, they married in Melbourne Australia in 1849.(I think he was a Master Mariner).
This is all I know about him and would love to connect with all family member's, and find lost relatives....
Another member married in England during WW1 his name was also John and he married a Elizabeth Darling in 1917(Surrey), of course the surname has many spellings too. Combe/s Coombe/s etc.
Also looking for Skelly probably from Ireland.

I think that is him I am not sure how old you would've had to be in them days to be a Mariner.
How do we go about finding the information on these mariner's like where they came from DOB etc,
the Coombs page I dont think he is in there must be a relative somewhere along the line, he was born 1820 Kent UK have been told recently?
Thanks for the input. Colleen.
