I believe the John Grout Denby is my GGGrandfather.

He came to NZ on ship Kenilworth , arrived Auckland 4 May 1857 from The Downs (UK ??) having sailed on 12 January 1857. Name shows as John Danby, wife and infant on shipping arrivals notice in the Daily Southern Cross, Volume XIV, Issue 1028, 5 May 1857, page 2.

Had the first Post Office in Northcote Point (then known as Stokes Point), 1874 - 1893.

Name also recorded as John Grant Denby
