Does any one have information on my great grandfather and grandmother John Robert and Mary Moffitt and their only son Richard Moffitt.

John was born around 1880 I think in Australia. Married Mary around 1903 I think in Australia. John was a deep sea diver and ended up in Hawaii around 1906.

BillSharp on 2018-07-18 11:02:27hi gmoffitt. John Robert Moffitt was born on 11 Aug 1880 at Westland Row, St Andrews Parish, Dublin (Roman Catholic). Son of Michael Moffitt and his wife Mary (nee Glennon). At age 35yrs 9mth he joined the Australian Imperial Force on 24.5.16, described as 5'8", blue eyes, service no. 33752, married to Mary Anne Moffitt of 10 Lincoln St (off McDougall St) North Sydney. [Signing up, he states that he had previous service: 21st Lancers & 10th Hussars in the South Africa (Boer) War, where 1900 he caught Bilharzia, and states he was discharged with gun wounds.] On 31.10.16 he was discharged medically unfit, spending time in isolation, from where he went AWOL, but returned intoxicated. 1917 he is listed on SS Niagara from Vancouver to Honolulu. 1920 he is resident in Honolulu with wife Mary Ann and son Richard F Moffitt (age 19). Moffitt is a family name common in the North East of England, around Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Last month a renamed KSA medal was for sale on Ebay, re-named to 3825 Sgt. R.R. J.R.Moffitt 10th R.
