If you search BDMNZ online there are a few marriages within expected range but one more likely than others. 1886 Sarah Bruce to Henry Thomas.
If you check the online burials in Christchurch for Sarah Thomas with the year you provide it records Sarah as having lived in NZ for 66 years. Therefore she traveled to NZ as a child.
Passenger lists can be searched on familysearch.com which show a Sarah Bruce arriving in 1874 with parents Jonathan & Johanna, siblings and a possible aunty. Johannas newspaper memorial notice published in December 1909 is signed off as "Inserted by her loving daughters, J.B.and S.T., and granddaughter Millie.
Thanks for the info. I'm still a bit confused. In the cemetery records Sarah Thomas was buried in the same plot as Harry Thomas. Also on BDMNZ my ancestors are listed with Harry and Sarah Thomas as being their parents. There is no mention of a Henry?
Henry & Harry are the same person. Harry is an English short form of Henry. If you search for his birth on BDMNZ you will find him born 1864 parents Anne and John but his name given as Henry.
