EAGAN/FINNEY ancestors of New Orleans, LA

Journal by JPhillips

I am searching for information on my EAGAN and FINNEY ancestors before they arrived in the US. Thomas Eagan was born about 1837. Most records show that he was born in New Orleans, but one shows he was born in New York. I have no information on his parents, who were born in Ireland. Margaret Finney, his wife, was born in New Orleans in 1855. Her parents were Michael Finney and Ellen Welsh. Michael was from Westmeath, Glen Ireland and Ellen was from Tuam, Ireland. I would love to discover more on Thomas, Michael and Ellen.

Hello jphillips - It looks like you may have got your research results from --> familysearch.org . Their is still more there. Children of Thomas & Margret ---- > also children of her father and other details. When you bring up the fore mentioned website - go to ancestral . Those letters _ are coding on each family . Take a good look at the difference . They do change slightly . If you went to Ireland and use the first ( 6 ) numbers as a guide put in the surname only - using the letters as a guide you may hit on the Irish parents - . Hope this assist you - if not throw it in the can - Regards edmondsallan

Thank you. I do have all those people in my family tree, but have never been able to trace anything back to Ireland. I'm not sure what you mean by the process for possibly locating the Irish parents, but I will try.
