Ellusive Ancestors

Query by catchef

Everyone with the name "Booth" thinks they are descended from the infamous John Wilkes, so we've kind of joked about being Booth descendants over the years. This much I believe is true. My great great grandfather, Lyman Wade Booth lived on a farm in Virginia where he and John Wilkes used to play. Lyman had a son named James at birth. He was born in Terre Haute Indiana and was called William Edwin in later years. William Edwin Booth Senior was my maternal grandfather. I have my grandfather's birth certificate which says "Baby Boy Booth" and that his mother was born in Ireland.

Family lore is that Lyman Wade suffered greatly from Civil War injuries and he overdosed on Laudanum in Forrest Park, St. Louis, MO. Haven't been able to find anything on Lyman.
