His wife Gertrude passed away at the age of 41 years on 25 November and was buried at the Karrakatta Cemetery in Perth

Spent a holiday in April 1934 at Dongara, with his mother at Midland Junction and then in Busselton

Travelled to Dongara for another holiday on 9 May, his long service leave and annual leave having been combined

Drove to Morawa on Tuesday 31 July to see his son who was at the Morawa Hospital having fractured his skull

He himself underwent an operation in August and was unable to resume duties as stationmaster for over a week

Mrs B. Johnson of Dongara spent a holiday staying with himself and his family at Arrino in October

1935
Returned to Arrino on Tuesday 26 February after a short trip to Perth to receive medical attention

- Eric died on 9 May 1935 in Arrino
- he is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth


Owing to his passing all sporting activities scheduled to be held in Arrino on Sunday 12 May 1935 were cancelled
