Finlayson Family world-wide

Journal by john_finlayson

I'm a retired person voluntarily involved in researching the spread of the surname Finlayson world-wide and also the possible origins.
I have brief details of many individual Finlaysons born between 1950 and 1695 and I'm attempting to find links between the various family tree branches.
Information regarding YOUR FINLAYSON ancestry would be gratefully received and treated in strictest confidence.

Hello John;

I am brand new to this, and just started putting together notes and interviewing who is left of my family. I am a Mahoney, but my great Grandmother was a Finlayson. All I know about her is her name, Charlotte Finlayson, married to Lawrence Mahoney in New Jersey, maybe 1913 area, with one son, and then she passed away sometime after having this son in 1915 maybe, at the age of 22. She is buried in Mont Clair New Jersey I believe. She was survived by two brothers, i believe William and ?, and a sister who married into the Kelly Family. Would you be able to point me in the right direction to find out more about her.

Hi Florida, Thanks for your comments.
While I do have contacts in the USA I do not have any in New Jersey.
The main site I use is at
