Francis was born in Sunderland?England approx. 1860-she was my great grandmother on my fathers side.
She was a Herbalist-I am trying to find any information regarding her life as a Herbalist.
I understand she practised this and believe she cured Lady Durham of leg ulcers.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Usually female version of that name is spelled with an E, male is I, so always check both versions when searching.

Would the local papers have articles about her?

Lady D's estate papers might be lodged at local records office and could contain receipts for treatment perhaps?

Hi thanks,
Her was spelt with an i not an e which is unusual for a women.
I discovered she was born in 1847.

I'm only fairly new to this, so any ideas are appreciated/
