passengers of the "Ruahine" - Wellington Jan 1926

Journal by ngairedith

In compiling info on George Edmund GUMBRELL for an enquiry, I could not find the passenger list online for the "Ruahine" which left from London and Southampton and arrived in Wellington, via Panama, in early 1926

I found a list of saloon passengers on Papers Past & taken the liberty of transcribing it here in alphabetical order for easier reading:

the RUAHINE'S PASSENGERS FROM HOME - Evening Post 23 January 1926
... After a passage of 35 days from Southampton, via Panama, the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Ruahine arrived in the stream at 11 a.m. today, and was berthed at 1 p.m., at King's Wharf. Cargo was loaded at London and the Ruahine sailed from there at 11 a.m. on 17th December for Southampton, where passengers were embarked, and mails taken aboard. The vessel sailed from Southampton at noon on the following day. The run across the Atlantic, was accompanied by good weather as was the trip from Panama, until the vessel met bad weather yesterday. The usual fancy dress balls, dances, and deck sports were held, and the passengers spent an enjoyable time. Two deaths occurred after leaving Panama. The Ruahine averaged a little over 14 knots.

Commander E. T. SMITH, R.N.R., is in command of the vessel and his officers are:-
