In February 1887
- George was in charge of Mr E. Conroy's butcher shop at the Spit, Hawkes Bay, when he attempted suicide around midnight. He called out to Annie from the back yard that he had cut his throat. Annie and neighbours came to help and Dr Moore took him to hospital were it was found the wound was not dangerous. George attributed his foolishness to drinking bad brandy

In September 1899
- George & Annie were in the Napier Supreme Court for a divorce


Annie died in Napier 22 Sep 1911
