My Grandfather

According to my father:

Harris family: 1st son was William and 2nd George
1. Emigrated from (northern) Ireland to S Africa.
2. Married twice at least
a. Children from 1st marriage: William Thomas (my father) & Emily.
b. Children from 2nd marriage: George + ...
3. An electrical engineer. Developed the Post Office box to determine the distance to faults on telephone lines and introduced the 1st electric tram to Cape Town. Manufactured in UK by Philip Harris.

Harris family tree: Cockermouth, Cumbria large number of Thomas, William and Georges.

Hello Neill, The first electric tram in Cape Town ran down Adderley Street 1896, so I'm thinking your grandfather must have emigrated around that time. Do you have any approximate dates?
