3. An electrical engineer. Developed the ‘Post Office box’ to determine the distance to faults on telephone lines and introduced the 1st electric tram to Cape Town. Manufactured in UK by Philip Harris.

Hello Neill, The first electric tram in Cape Town ran down Adderley Street 1896, so I'm thinking your grandfather must have emigrated around that time. Do you have any approximate dates?
