I am trying to get information on John Cotter Shanacashel Kilmichael Macroom Co Cork,He married a Margaret Hickson in Kilmichael in 1826,I am a decendant of theirs. I am trying to find out who his parents were.He is listed as John William and his eldest Child was William so his father was probably William.I can find no birth record as the Kilmichael Parish Records only go back to 1818.He was probably born around 1790 -1800. I also want to find out about his wife Margaret Hickson.Who was she?.I would appreciate any help you can give me.Thanks

Hello Happyhallahan - This is the only record I could find . It is not proven . It is along shot / a remote possibility.--> website ,
Father - Hilliard Hickson ( no other details on him )Mallow Parish Cork
Wife - Ellen -- > ????? Nil
Margaret Hickson -b-13th July -1784 Mallow Parish. cork - Ire'
Honor " -b- 4th Nov -1789 same
Jas " -b- 11th Jan -1792 same -d-25th Aug 1795 ( 3yrs
Eliz- " -b- 26th July-1794 same
Ann " -b- 22nd Feb -1797 same
Mary " -b- 5th Aug -1801 same

Now for the possible - theory ( my fingers are crossed & I am holding
moi lucky 4 leaf clover )Mallow Parish is very close to Kilmichael Parish - ( brilliant ? ) so what -> The time gap between the first
margret & the other Margret is 42 yrs ( enough time for two families )may be a cemetery search may! may ! show something ( hours of research -if you can uplift the records . You have one real snake by the tail in this one . We have one other longshot that. is a member of this website assisting. We have one who I think is high on the list and he may come to your assistance / he may not . You could contact him and respectfully ask if he thinks he could assist .It is up to him . His code name on this website is -> gallftree007 < send a private message - If he says no - you must accept his answer - no!!!
hassling . Ok a lot of records have been destroyed in the civil war in Cork in 1900's -- parish records in detail were not recorded till the 1820's- I hope this can assist you -if not throw it in the rubbish can . I wish you the best -nothing is worse than not knowing the answer or something in Ancestral genealogy. I hope sometime you will come back to us with some of the answers you been seeking -Regards - edmondsallan
