I am looking for the family James Woods who was born in 1853 in Kent, England. I think he immigrated to Australia in 1864 on board the Legion of Honor, from England. He died in 1910 in Dalby Queensland.

If he passed away aged 57 years then I am a relative.

This James was my greatgrandfather, his son Charles was my grandfather. I am looking foe someone who may know James's mother's name. All the documents that I have only list his father. Would you know?

He was also my greatgrandfather. Joe was my grandfather. Sorry can't help. You have actually got further than others that I have heard of. Out of curiosity what was our great great grandfather's name?

I remember Uncle Joe from when I was a kid, and his taxi. I have a photo of him and Aunt Kit holdong my brother when he was a toddler. James's father was also called James, according to their marriage certificate, but mother is listed as unkown. If I have the right family in England, James Snr was born 1827, but I need James Jnr's mother name to confirm it and unfortunately all the documents list her as unknown. I think maybe she died in childbirth before they immigrated.

Sorry, I was just speaking to mother but she doesn't know. Rumour has it that some of the Ashmore part of the family was looking into this. Bill maybe able to let you know who to contact. Maybe Thelma Ashmore? Let me know if you make any further progress.
