I am the direct descendant (great great great grandson)of Thomas Carter (Ahnentafel 54)born about 1801 in South Hinksey, in Berkhire. Thomas was the second of ten children born to Robert Carter (Ahnentafel 108 - c.1777 - 1835) and Sarah
Thomas's first wife Elizabeth Rouse, who was about the same age as Thomas, had married him in a hurry on June 12, 1815, as he went off to the Napoloic wars. They may have had children on his return, but It was the birth of Vincent, 1832 that killed poor old Elizabeth, and the Widdowed Thomas re-married very quickly to Mary.

Elizabeth (Ahnentafel 27) was born the eldest of four children to Thomas and his second wife, Mary, whom he married around 1833. She was baptised on October 3, 1838, at St Lawrence South Hinksey.
