My husband's g grandfather, Robert Waters, appears on the 1871 and 1881 census as living in Edinburgh. His occupation is a Joiner. His parents were David and Isabella (nee HUNTER) WATERS. Robert moved to Cape Town some time between 1881 and 1887 - when his 1st child (my husband's grandmother) was born. His wife's name was Annie, nee Bolton, but I have no idea if Robert met and married her in Scotland, or if he came to South Africa and met and married her here.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Looking at Scotlands people for marriages between 1855 -2009 there is no record of a Robert Waters marrying an Annie Bolton, nor in UK marriage records
