Valentine MEKALICK
- he was born about 1866 in Austria
- he married Fredricka Rasmina RASMUSSEN of Robinsons Bay, Banks Peninsula, Canterbury - a sister of Christian Herman Rasmussen who married Valentine's sister Anna
- Valentine received his naturalisation papers in March 1890 - he was then farming in Pahiatua
- one of their daughters, Claudia, was born in 1897 in Pahiatua, died 1964 in Cambridge, Waikato aged 67. She had married Emil WEIDENBOHM
- in 1911 Claudia was in a Competition in Masterton giving a Vocal Solo for girls under 17. It says she was from Mangarawa
- a son, Reuben, was born in Pahiatua in 1902, died in 1947 aged 45. He had married Charlotte Rush DUNLOP
- a daughter, Rowena was born in 1904 in Pahiatua, died 1936 in Pahiatua aged 32. She had married John McDonald TOLMIE in Pahiatua in 1929
- Valentine was nominated as a Candidate for the
PAHIATUA LICENSING DISTRICT in 1903
- Fredricka died aged 71 in Patea, 1946
- Valentine died in Wellington on the 30th August 1936 aged 70

Franciska "Fanny" MEKALICK
- she was born about 1871 in Austria
- she married Anders William ANDERSON 1887
- died 17 July 1941 Cromwell, Otago aged 70

Marie May MEKALICK
- she was born about 1873 in Austraia
- died about 1941 in New Zealand aged 68

Anna Teresa MEKALICK

- she married Christian Herman Rasmussen about 1893 in Eketahuna. He was a brother of Fredricka Rasmussen who married Anna's brother Valentine
- he was a son of William RASMUSSEN and Thrine FREDERIKSON

- Anna died 5th Feb 1935 in Te Aroha, Thames aged 55

These names are all vaguely familiar to me..........my father who was born in Pahiatua ( as was I ) in 1911 spoke of them often. I can probably find and supply some information from funeral records, from my grandfather and father's business, which are held by my brother.
