Hello Tonkin.
I am a descendant of John Drew b.1836 Limerick County Ireland and
Mary Frances McGrane b.1838 Kilkee, County Clare Ireland. My information is that they were married February 1862 in St Francis Church, Little Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia. They moved to the goldfields of Lawrence in Central Otago, New Zealand where John died 19.12.1883 and Mary died 23.1.1897. I would like to know how to trace their families back in Ireland. Many thanks.

Hi barbidoll.

There was a John DREW and Mary MCGRANE married in Victoria in 1862 which may be them. Ref: VMI #569.

Sorry, I'm not into research in Ireland, but I'm sure there will be other members that may be able to help you.

Can someone please assist barbidoll.

Thank you.

Hi Tonkin
Thank you for your research and information re the marriage of John Drew and Mary McGrane in Victoria 1862. There has been no further information received about them.
Can you suggest a way I may be able to trace their journey and arrival in Victoria from Ireland i.e. did they meet in Victoria or perhaps happen to travel to Australia on the same ship.

Hi barbidoll.

Sorry no one has offered you any help. May I suggest you put up a few details in your own journal. Your chances of someone finding your call for help in my IRISH marriages are very slim. People hit on here because they are looking for the surname IRISH and not DREW.

Post a few details in a DREW journal and see how you go.

Luck be with you.

hi barbidoll, my name is June, I live in South Australia.
try making inquiries thru Emerald for your inquiries into Irish
births / deaths and marriages. I have a friend in Vancouver in Canada, she is a member of Emerald and she and I share a common ancestor. She found a marriage certificate for my great great grandparents, John Donnelson and Isabella Carruthers, they were married in Templemore in Derry in March 1863.... feel free to contact me on my [email protected]
