Hello,
I am a Briggs and have my great grandfather David Dixon Briggs bc1822 Rome, Oneida, NY as my worst Brick Wall. He had golden hair as did many of the Briggs's in my family. Came to NZ aboard a whaling ship and married 3 times here. Had children named: John Jaford, Robert Ephraim, David Henry, Eliza Annie, Henry, Franklin Thomas, Margaret-Eliza Jane, Henrietta Cynthia, Ebenezer Eggleston, May Caroline BRIGGS. All born in NZ. He died in Auckland, NZ on 19 August 1907. So far we have been unable to find out about his roots or ancestry but suspect that Ebenezer Briggs b:1776, probably Vermont, could be his grandfather.
I'd be interest to see how you are going with your Briggs family and if you had any tips you could give me as to finding proof of my grandfather's birth, parentage etc. I have posted a Briggs post today.
Did any of your Brigg's have golden hair. I have many Briggs photos and there is certainly an uncanny likeness across the generations.
I find it all very interesting. I live in Warkworth, Auckland, New Zealand.
Regards, Lynette
