He was a convict who changed his name from Bowdidge born 1810 in Dorset, England.
Married Alice Smith 1808-1860 in 1830 in Wooton, England and they had 7 children :- Ann BOWDIDGE 1831, Richard BOWDIDGE 1834, Mary BOWDIDGE 1836, Elizabeth BOWDIDGE 1838, Sarah BOWDIDGE 1840, John Smith BOWDIDGE 1841, Alice Gardener BOWDIDGE 1843.

Was arrested for burgulary and tried in 1844 in Saint Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands this is when his name changed to Burridge. Transported to Norfolk Island on the 'David Malcolm' arrived in Norfolk Island on the 10 September 1845. On Surgeon's Report states,known as BURRIDGE, John or BOWDIGE.
The next year he was transported to Hobart Town on the 'Franklin" arriving there on the 30 August 1846.
Married Elizabeth GEARD 1832-1919 in Launceston on the 9 April 1851 and had a further 9 children :-

BURRIDGE - On November 17, at his late residence, Richmond, after a painful illness, John Burridge, aged 68 years, late of Dorset, England, leaving a wife and large family. The funeral will move from his late residence, on Tuesday, 21st inst, at half past Two o'clock, when friends are respectfully invited to attend.
