- he went to school in Napier
Ida Stacpoole
1895 Morere, Hawkes Bay - 4th Jul 1953 aged 58
- she married Leonard Wood, JP of Napier in 1919
- he was the second son of Samuel Wood of Napier
- their son Russell Wood, Serial Number - 417140, was a Pilot Officer with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, 44 Squadron and was killed in action in WWII and buried Nederweert War Cemetery, Limburg, Netherlands

* John had a General Store in Woodville
* he helped form, and was one of the Stewards of, the Woodville District Jockey Club
* he was an officer in the Lodge Ruahine, No 80, NZC (It began under the EC as No 2178, later to change to 80 NZC)

FARMERS` CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION
- WOODVILLE THIS DAY -
A Farmers Co-operative Association is being formed in Woodville, the furnishing business of R.E. Grinlinton and the general stores of John Massey (sic) Stacpoole and W.L. Grinlinton being amalgamated for that purpose
- In 1894 the Co-op was in liquidation

John had a close working relationshop with
Robert Eldon Grinlinton

John was 46 when he died
