John McCliment Mystery (orphan Scottish or Irish immigrant) Help welcome!

Query by westcoastie

I've been trying to research the McCliments in my family tree but I seem to have hit a wall.
My gr-gr-gr grandfather John McCliment was born about 1860 (April) in Ireland or Scotland and married Annie Campbell who was Scottish. He died 1932 in Washington state. The story that's been passed down is that him and his brother who were orphans, went to Scotland and married Scottish girls and then immigrated to the U.S.

The strange thing is that in in 3 different censuses he has listed different places for his and his parents birthplaces and I'm sure it's him in all of them. In 1900 he said he was born in Scotland and both parents were as well. But in 1920 he said him and his parents were born in Ireland. Then in 1930 he said he was born in Ireland but his parents were born in Scotland. So I'm guessing he didn't even know for sure himself.

According to his death certificate, the names of his parents were John & Elizabeth McCliment (no maiden name).

If anyone knows anything or has a way to find about his parents, I'd be grateful!!
