John TYSON fathered a daughter named Ellen or Helena. I don't know the mother's name. Proving very difficult to find at the moment.

I expect you will be talking about the John TYSON married to Susan RINTOUL in 1854. They had ten children in the Taradale-Malmsbury area between 1855 and 1871, but no Ellen or Helena. If you are talking about John fathering a daughter to another woman I think your chances of finding the mother are very slim. If you have any other details on this Ellen or Helena you can pass on it may help with record searches.

Thank you for your interest. I hadn't thought of him fathering a daughter outside his marriage but it seems a very respectable family and I wouldn't have thought that was likely.
I wish it was the John who married Susan RINTOUL but I have explored that avenue and it isn't that family. On Helena/Ellen's Death Certificate in 1910 it says he is a farmer. I'm not sure if that means he is still alive at that time. At least it doesn't say he is deceased.
I am trying to find a little more about him so that I don't have to buy every Death Certificate for John Tyson. Of course he may even have left Victoria. I have found an insolvent Malmsbury shopkeeper by that name in the 1861 Victorian Government Gazette. I might have to visit the Malmsbury Historical Society in February and they may possibly have some suggestions for further research directions.
Two of Helena/ Ellen's children say that she was born in Lauriston, whilst her Death Certificate says that she was born in Malmsbury.
Helena/Ellen married John Charity but I have been unable to find a marriage certificate so I am really at a loss as where to go next. Iam happy to pass on anything I manage to find out.
