HOKITIKA is a township in the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island, 40km (25 miles) south of Greymouth
Hokitika is a Maori word, which means 'place of return'
It was given this name for its riches in greenstone (pounamu)


Joseph George BROCKLEHURST (1858-1924)
was born in Sandridge (now named Port Melbourne), Victoria, Australia

he married Ada KNIGHT (1861-1933) in 1882
Ada was born in Debtford, Kent, England

The Wesleyan Church Bazaar and concert was continued on Thursday last and was pre-emenintly successful, a large number of persons not only attended but investing money in the various useful and pretty articles with which stalls were laden. Miss Annie Bignell, charmingly arrayed as a Fairy, presided at a small model of a windlass neatly constructed by Mr Joseph Brocklehurst and drove a roaring trade
