Hi Christine
Have you seen the cemetery records of Symonds St. http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/dbtw-wpd/exec/dbtwpub.dll
Funny that Joseph isn't there as he died before Maryann.I don't know what happened to people who died in Costley Home - all I know was that it was a kind of hospital/home for the poor
Did you see the notice in the paper for the marriage of Joseph and MaryAnn
It looks like there were 3 sons of James' farming in Onehunga Is that right? Joseph was the eldest, Richard and Owen Curran(interesting name). Owen is prominent in the horse racing circuit -owning race horses and acting as starter and other official positions. His sons have interesting names too - Owen Curran Sylvester McGee and Richard LeSage McGee.
there was an article in the paper about a case in court between Joseph and Owen because Owen was supposed to be paying Joseph money to dig his potato crop. Joseph claimed it was a poor crop and he should be paid more. Unfortunately the image was not very clear so I couldn't read the result.
Can't distinguish which Thomas is the one you want apart from the electoral rolls where he is living with Mary Josephine. Do you know where they died and were buried?
