I am looking for any Cook/e from Sussex,England, mustly around the Ewhurst and Salehurst area. My Thomas Cooke married Mary Crouch in Ewhurst in 1821 and had their eight children who were William, Thomas, Hannah, James, John, Henry, Edmund and Mary Ann all in and around Ewhurst. In 1838 the whole family set sail on the ship "Lady Nugent) to Australia where they arrived in New South Wales in November 1838. It appears though Thomas may have died a year later in Cobbitty and Mary married a George Simpson not long after that. Mary died in 1851 in Sydney.

Their son John married Elizabeth Potter in Melbourne, Victoria in about 1854. John and Elizabeth began a large family while in Victoria. Henry 1st, Thomas, George, William, Lydia, Emma 1st, Caroline and Charlotte. Two of the boys and two of the girls died young and the family moved to Rockhampton, Queensland and then slowly to Barcaldine. While moving their family was growing...and dying. Babies John 1st, Henry 2nd, Minnie, Alice, Emma 2nd and John Charles and they lost two boys and one girl. Elizabeth died in Barcaldine about 1889 and John went back to Rockhampton where he died in 1905.

All connected names to this family is Apps, Crouch, Potter, Swift, Allan, Nichols, Southwell, Glenesk, Rollason, Willard.
