I am trying to verify my grandfathers record of birth in County Donegal,Raphoe Parish or Raphoe town,Ulster Province. Information given by family members says he was born 1880,but 1911 Canadian census gives it as 1884.Having grown up in an orphanage in Manitoba I never met my relatives. I have found all my mothers siblings ( all deceased). There were eleven others besides my mother.I,ve been told that gg grandfather had eleven children himself. My grandfather was married in 1908 in Montreal to Eliza Jane Tinney or Tunny . The story goes that he came to Canada in 1883 with his parents,but I don,t know where his parents may have settled or for that matter what their names were. Family history says George left Canada in 1898 to go to the U.S ,then back to Ireland.Grandfather met Eliza Jane Tinney or Tunny in Ireland and brought her back to Canada with him where they were married in Montreal.After the wedding they moved to Dauphin,Manitoba where George worked for the railroad (Canadian Northern Railroad ). Five children were born there. In 1917, the family moved to Kamsack,Saskatchewan and grandfather continued to work for the railroad. Seven more children were born here. My mother was the youngest. I have birth dates of all my mothers siblings and am now just starting to talk to some of my cousins .
