I think William John Ridout died during the 2nd quarter of 1854 (Sherbourne, Dorset vol 5a p246). As for Henry, I have found these census records for him:
1861 in Folke, Dorset, England
1871 in Folke, Dorset, England
1881 in Folke, Dorset, England (52 All Weston St)
1891 in Sherborne, Dorset, England
There's also a 1901 census record for a Henry and Sarah Ridout living in Castleton, Dorset, England, with a sister-in-law Jane Willmott, aged 72. Their ages are listed as 60, so it could be them. However, I also found a transcribed death record (www.freebmd.org) for Q3 1897 for a Henry Rideout in Wareham, Dorset, aged 60. This may be him. If not, he could have had a very long life, post 1920, as these death indicies have not yet been transcribed, so a trawl through the actual index page images may be in order.
As for Sarah's death (married name Turton), I believe it was to the end of 1903 in Nottingham, though I'll need to dig more, as in the 1901 census she and her husband Benjamin were in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, after many years in Nottingham, though how long they spent there in total is not known, possibly only a short time. As for how Sarah ended up in Nottingham, it was, as for generations of people in the 19th century, to work in the lace industry.
Sarah and Benjamin had 4 children:
Elizabeth (1864)
George (1865)
Benjamin (1868)
Sarah (1871)
I'll sort out more for you, but it's 1:30am now in the UK and time for sleep!
Marnhull typed transcript of Marriages:
- 4 Dec 1775 William Mullett of Lydlinch & Elizabeth Rake of this parish married in presence of John rake & Christopher Warren.
- 29 Aug 1791 Robert Bartlett & Elizabeth Rake both of this parish married in presence of John Galpin & Rob. Warren.
The hired researcher concluded that the Elizabeth Rake baptised 24 Feb 1758, dau. of John & Mary Rake is ancestor. Baptisms of siblings:

There is also an ancestrial relationship to a Susanna Buzstore/Burstares/Bustard. Haven't delved into that yet. She was born in Sturminster Newton around 1727.

All children born in Green Township, Adams Co. Ohio.
All marriages occurred in Adams Co. Ohio.
Frederick and Mary Jane Ridout are buried in the family cemetery on Long Lick Road in Adams Co. OH. I also believe that children Elizabeth and Mary are buried there also. There is a stone marked Devoss and could be both Alice and her husband. The land is still in the Ridout family. The majority of the Ridout family is buried in Sandy Springs Cemetery, Adams Co. Ohio.
I am a direct descendant of both James Buchanan Ridout and Charles Theodore Ridout.
From Needra Fisher, Feb 2003:
‘My gggrandfather was the constable of Green Township, Adams Co. OH in the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. That is why I have this document. His name was George Davis.
'Justice C.N. Hall writes:
August 30 1880. the Plantiff filed her Bill of Particulars, which was an Affidavit in the substance as follows. Ollie Moore, an unmarried woman, resident within said County and made complaint under oath that on the 13th day of February A.D. 1879 she was delivered of a bastard child and that Charles Ridout is the father of said child, which accusation was by me reduced to writing and sworn to by her.
I then issued a Warrant for said Charles Ridout directed to Constable of Green Township in said County and delivered the same to said Constable who returned the same endorsed as follows.
August 30, 1880 Warrant recalled by Complaintant and cause dismissed. (These parties were married by me on the 24th day of November,1880.)

We also believe younger brother, George(chr. 1833), came to the US and settled in Scioto Co. Ohio (next over from Adams). He was a farmer and landowner. On the 1900 US Census of Wheelersburg,Scioto Co., Ohio, he states he came to US in 1852 and that he'd been married 45 years (= 1855). Need to make a trip to the Scioto Co. courthouse for his marriage info and property deeds.
For Michael Bradley Ridout, according to 1891 Wirksworth, Derbyshire Census, he was a grocer. His wife's name is Mary, 2 children Alfred (b. abt. 1863)and Annie (b. abt 1873) and both born Derby, Wirksworth. Michael is not listed in his father's household in the 1841 Census. There possibly were more children.
Thank you for the info on Elizabeth! Clears up alot!
William was found on the 1851 Longburton, Dorset Census, age 22.
The first Henry was not in his father's household in 1841 and discovered his christening record at HOlnest, Dorset. Since another child was named Henry, I'm assuming he died before 1839, though I haven't found a death/burial record for him.
The second Henry is on the 1841 Census, 1851 Holnest, Dorset Census, and (if I'm correct)1881 All Weston Folk, Dorset Census. Married to a Sarah (Beaton) they have 4 children on household: George, Frank, Frederick, and Jane.
All I have on Joseph is his christening date (15 Feb 1842)and that he was in his father's household on the 1851 Census.
The information I have on Joseph Ridout (abt 1752-1819) is from the Dorset Record Office, the dorset-opc site, and the LDS site, familysearch.org/. I have already posted this on the site.
The Bradley side of the family I have just recently went back to. In 2004, a Dorset researcher was hired. Here are his findings:
Marnhull Baptisms 1745-1812
C 25 May 1766 Michael Bradley, son of Stephen & Melior
C 23 March 1768 Mary Bradley, dau of Stephen & Amelia
C 22 Nov 1772 Stephen Bradley, son of stephen & Melior
C 1 Dec 1756 Betty Rake dau of John & Betty
C 24 Feb 1758 Elizabeth Rake* dau of John & Mary
C 2 Aug 1764 Betty Rake dau of William & Betty
He searched the Marnhull marriages prior to 1766 but did not find one of Stephen to Melior/Amelia.
- Michael Bradley widower and Elizabeth Best widow married 19 April 1790 in presence of Joseph Bastable & Stephen Bradley.
- Michael Bradley & Elizabeth Hunt married 19 April 1787 in presence of Martha Burt & Mary Bradley.
- Henry Best widower married Betty Rake by License in presence of Catherine Clark in 1780. Day & month not recorded but between July & Oct.
I'll continue on tomorrow.
