My mother is Victoria Davalos Tuñacao and my father is James Emmett Starks, but the Tuñacao family came from a very historical background. According to stories handed down from one generation to another, our great grandfather was Lapu-Lapu, the great chieftain who killed Magellan. After Lapu-Lapu killed Magellan, all of the chief's family members were beheaded, and those who survived changed their name to Tuñacao to make their names sound Spanish so that the Spaniards would not kill them. As you can see there is an ñ in that last name (which makes it sound Spanish). Unfortunately due to old typewriters that did not have the ñ key eventually the ñ is slowly disappearing and becoming an n. And yes that is the history of the Tuñacao name, which originated from Cebu.
