I'm researching my family tree and have found 5 generations of Royal Marines and 1 in the Army, But have become stuck, my greatx6 grandfather was a colour sergeant in Chatham & Deal in Kent around 1841/51, he was also a greenwich pensioner and publican within this area but am having difficulty going much further back apart from going to ?Kew but that's a little difficult. He was born around 1809/11 from Hull, Yorkshire - name of John Henry Smith married to Elizabeth Bowen from Pembrokeshire and had Thomas and Benjamin Smith - Thomas also became a marine, Benjamin in the navy - any ideas would be gratefully recieved.
