Fran,
Did you know surname/s were also spelled differently as ZEIGLER and SCHUTZ within some death registrations of children at the Queensland Historical Indexes online?
Al.
Yes, Ally, we've discovered this, but there's only the one family of us, spelt ZiegEler and SchuLtz.
Hmmm. Keep digging at your roots, you will find them.
My cousins and I are tearing our hair out here. We're just about convinced the gg's parents were dropped off by aliens on their way past. And now we've also found that the name Elsebye is a girl's name in Denmark, not a surname.
Yikes.
A friend in Canada has done some digging for us, and has come across the address book for Hamburg in 1847. There's a George Daniel Ziegeler listed as living in St. Paulli, and he was a milchhandler. Does this mean he was the local milkman, or owned a dairy farm - or both?
How do I attach a photo of great-grandfather to this journal?

Carl Theodore ZIEGELER married Amy Amanda SCHULTZ in Mackay, Queensland, Australia in 1884. His parents were George Daniel ZIEGELER and Annie ELSEBYE (from Denmark?). We have the Australian descendants, and are trying to find the German side, if anyone can help.
