| Looking to fill in some blanks in my family tree. I have:-
William COTTIER born 1840 Isle of Man, England
married 26 Jun 1867 New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand (source: IGI) Mary Jane GRYLLS (IGI has CRYLLS!) born 1846 New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Parents names not yet known for the couple. William COTTIER died aged 65 years and was buried 1905 New Plymouth Cemetery, New Zealand. Details of wife's death/burial not yet known.
Seven (7) Children:-
1. Henry William COTTIER born 10 Feb 1868 New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand died 11 Nov 1947 New Plymouth (source: IGI), buried 1947 aged 79 years New Plymouth Cemetery, New Zealand, married 1895 Priscilla Ida COWLING born 1871 New Plymouth died 1948 New Plymouth, daughter of William COWLING and Mary HAWK. No children yet known of, but possibly there were. I have found a burial record for an infant Henry William COTTIER that died in 1906 aged 11 months, buried New Plymouth Cemetery. Wondering if this was Henry William COTTIER Junior?.
2. Charles Percy COTTIER christened 13 Jan 1873 New Plymouth (source: IGI). Death/burial records not yet found. Search June 2008.
3. Emma May COTTIER christened 25 Jan 1874 New Plymouth (source: IGI)

6. Jessie Black COTTIER christened 15 May 1879 New Plymouth (source: IGI)
7. Ivy Gertrude COTTIER christened 24 Mar 1881 New Plymouth (source: IGI)
Questions:
a) Can anyone find when/where William & Mary COTTIER died or are buried?
b) I have spousal names for two of their children. Can anyone find marriage records for their other five children?
c) When did the COTTIERs and GRYLLs come to New Zealand?
Interesting websites:-
'Amelia Thompson' arrived New Plymouth 3 Sept 1841 mentions a GRYLLS family.
New Zealand Yesteryears - Passenger Lists - 'Earl Stanhope' mentions passenger the Reverend J.C. GRYLLS 20 Feb 1840.
Cottier Family NZ website
Cottier Estate 2005 Wairarapa Pinot Noir
GRYLLS family burial records New Plymouth, New Zealand
A Roll of Honour : Book Collectors mentions a Rev. William GRYLLS, Vicar of Crowen, Cornwall Bequeathed to Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1863. The Grylls family appear to have belonged to Tavistock, Devonshire, where they were found in the reign of Elizabeth. But the name and stock are traceable back to Edward I.

In answer to your questions:
a)Mary Jane died 4 June 1910, New Plymouth.
(www.newplymouthnz.com, click on cemetery search, towards the bottom right hand corner), buried TeHenui Cemetery, New Plymouth.
William is buried there too.
b)This info from the NZ Brides & Groom CD - not proven of course.
Emma married William Rankin in 1899, NZ
Sydney married Florence Eveline Avery in 1904, NZ
Jessie married Percy Mitchell in 1901, NZ
Ivy married George Mayo Kebbett in 1903, NZ
(That is all I have) on the marriages.
c) Mary Jane Grylls parents are Richard Grylls and Mary Ann Autridge. Richard and Mary Ann came to New Plymouth on the "Amelia Thompson" in 1841.
The Cottiers I don't know.
Hope this helps.
