Hello Keitha,
There are quite a few LAWRENCE buried here if you click the link.
That cemetery is in the Pahiatua, Woodville, Eketahuna area.
If you can give me a couple of names I will be able to help you - like your father or mother or other family members, where they lived etc
Here are the names of some LEWIS in the Dannevirke, Eketahuna, Woodville cemeteries
My father name Rex,grandfather Jimmy or James Lawrence he drowed in Wairoa River in 1960 age 60.
His family is from Pahiatua, not sure but i think
his mum is Emma and his dad is James Lawrence.
Kia Ora: I remember Jimmy Lawrence, my grandfather from Wairoa. I remembered the day he died early 1960's say about 1961/62/63?; bringing our family fishing boat back from Napier, both grand dad and boat lost. Only one gumboot was found. Jimmy was Wairoa's Freemasonary member/ businessman-Lawrence Motors-buses and taxis services and Mayor of Wairoa. Lawrence Motors was sited in North Cyde near the Wairoa River. Lawrence Park was to be sited in McLean Street, the Park named after him. His first wife was a chieftainess called Hariata my grandmother, both married in the forest of TaneMahuta, the old Maori way. The Lawrence family is related to the Gregories family from Scotland as Gregories uncle was Arthur Lawrence of Paahiatua.

Hi Keitha,
For you to have been born in the old Cook Hospital, I'm picking one of your folks were from that area.
Approx 10km Nor West of Wairoa, past a small settlement called Frazertown,is what is known as the back road to Gisborne.
On this road is a place called Te Renga Falls.
There is a fork in the road, the left Fork leads to one of the few gate ways into the Eastern Uruwera's, the right Fork leads to Hangaroa and Gisborne.(Approx 1 hrs drive.)
The Lewis family's that I have heard of come from this Marea located in the area.
Many were known to be top Shears to the Povety Bay area, and are well known by the dry stock farmers here.
I hope this wee bit is off use in your quest.
