MARK YAXLEY was born in Saint Albans, Hertfordshire, England.

At some stage he emigrated to New Zealand and settled somewhere in the South Island - a son, Henry Yaxley, was born in Kaikoura in 1893.

He married Agnes Caroline Coventry Dalzell who was born on the 19th April 1869 on board the "Caroline Coventry" on the way to Christchurch. Her parents, William and Margaret (nee Orr) Dalzell, were emigrating from Northern Ireland
