My Maiden name is Marsden, my Grandfather was born in Lewis near Brighton, he is decended from Michael Marsden who came to the area from Dublin in the 1800's to work as a coach trimmer for the Brighton railways,Michael had a twin brother born in 1819 called Benjamin and a sister born 1920 called rosanna, their parents were Edward Marsden also a coach trimmer and mother Mary, I have not been able to go back further, Michael married Sarah Bartolomew from Ashford in kent and the family settled in the Brighton area and there seem to be many Marsdens down there still. Michaels son Fredrick moved to London with his wife Ellen ( Pillbeam ) and my grandfather Alexander went with them along with his siblings, they were now a family of upholsterers, Grandad moved to Whitstable in kent with his wife Ivy ( Mitchell) and my Father Kenneth in the early 1940's Myself and my 3 brothers are the last of the line here now and I have had a devil of a job finding relatives from the other siblings. My Father died in 2002 and he was the last of the line of upholsterers that I know of. I hope this helps you and more importantly that we are somehow related....Kerry...
