Come to think of it, it could have been Ernest and Jane who were Ray Stehr's parents I honestly haven't researched this family, this is just bits and pieces I have found whilst researching my own family and of course Ray Stehr is famous in rugby league circles. I know Ernest also died at Warialda on the 31 May 1944 and Jane died on the 6 October 1959 she was 77. Anyway you will find Ray Stehr online you might find out that way. Good Luck in your search, Jan

Hi there,
I'm researching my grandfather, Raymond Ernest Stehr and have interestingly come across this discussion. Ray was the son of Esmond Leopold Stehr and Rose Hancock. He is my paternal grandfather and Leopold my great great grandfather.

Gerry, do you know how I can find out more information on the Alfred and their arrival in Australia? Do you know 'standing' means?

Cheers
Gabrielle

Alfred arrived in Sydney 26 November 1862

To Gabrielle, Standing means Profession; a Tischler is a carpenter and a Stellmacher is a wheelwright

It amazes me how thorough FTC researchers are. Especially Ngairedith and Janilye. They don't give a short, vague, and possibly confusing answer to a member who may be desperate to gain information. In other words, they don' leave them hanging with a dissatisfied look on their face. They are the epitome of true and knowledgeable professionals. They do not pretend they have the answer. If they don't know, they will honestly tell you. Thank you!!

Hullo everyone. I noticed a relative's name mentioned above. Athol Stehr, who is buried in the Tweed Heads cemetery was married to Ira nee Smith, one of my Dad's first cousins. I am one of the current generation of grandchildren of Ira's five aunties and one uncle (a total of seven Smith siblings including Ira's father George who married Elsie Pearl Brooks). I am trying to connect with the descendants of these ancestors from the Warialda and Bingara region of New South Wales. Also refer to my journal on this website. Thank you.

Leopold was from Camentz Prussia and was the son of Franziska PFOEFFER and unknown STEHR Male. We only know about the following children for Franziska:
1 Robert Emmanuel Joseph PFOEFFER 1830 - 1915 Died Manly NSW
2 Gustav Adolph Berthold STEHR 1837-1917
3 Gottard STEHR 1842-1915
4 Leopold STEHR 1843-1907

Franziska Pfoeffer was the daughter of Franz PFOEFFER and Franzisca RABE.
Gottard and Leopold both arrived on the Ship "Alfred on 26th November 1862.

Athol is the son of Jane Hueston and ERNEST STEHR(1876 -1944) who was the oldest son of LEOPOLD and SELINA

I have learnt this in my search for relatives of Paul Gustav Bernhardt Pfoeffer (1843 - 1882 Died in Sydney NSW)
We have letters and documents outlining the relationships.
Paul Gustav is the first cousin of Robert Pfoeffer and the Stehr Men. We believe that Pauls mother, Augusta Pfoeffer, was the sister of Franzikca Pfoeffer.
